Rainbows is a series of colour photographs depicting the pattern of iridescence occurring when oil or petrol is leaked onto wet pavement captured in-situ.
The familiar phenomenon is an illustration of complex optical physics; appearing when the light rays bouncing of the top and bottom of the film interfere with each other. The appearance of a luminous, irregular shaped rainbow on the filthy asphalt of a car park is an elegant example of the juxtaposition or beauty and banality, accentuated by the effect being the consequence of pollution.
The photographs are an ongoing series photographed in the United States, Australia and Japan
